Chamomile plant contains apigenin, an antioxidant compound which is also a sleep inducer. Apigenin attaches itself to receptors in the brain to reduce anxiety, giving us a peaceful calm that leads to drowsiness.

Alternatively, you may also want to try valerian root tea or black tea.

Leaves that are used to make black tea are allowed to age and oxidize in order for them to turn brown or black in colour. Whereas, green tea leaves are processed earlier while the leaves are still green.

Black tea generally contains more caffeine than green tea. If you want to reduce your caffeine intake, it is better to choose green tea over black tea.
